The Family Centres are home to several programs for parents and children: Parent support groups, parent education and family literacy programs, guest speakers, and a toy and book lending library.

(Community groups may rent the Kaslo Family Centre space for workshops and events)

Parent - Child Time

The Parent Support program in partnership with the Kaslo and Area Literacy offers a weekly parent and child drop-in for families with children under age six, which features early learning activities, arts and crafts, guest speakers and parent-child circle time. Please check our news page for dates and times.

Parent-Child Mother Goose

A six to eight week group experience for parents and babies, focusing on the pleasure and power of using rhymes, songs and stories together. The parents gain skills and confidence in supporting their child's early literacy development. This program is co-sponsored by the Parent Support Program and the Kaslo and Area Literacy program.

Nobody's Perfect

This six-week support group for parents of pre-schoolers increases parents' knowledge of children's health, safety and behaviour. The program helps to build ongoing support networks among parents in the community. Transportation, childcare and healthy snacks are provided.

Parent Support Program

This program focuses on supporting the needs of families with children under age six. Community development activities include parent education programs, special events, referral service, and group-buying opportunities to help families access quality food. Financial assistance is available for eligible families to attend parent education opportunities in the area.

Parent Education and Funding Subsidy

The Parent Education and Funding Subsidy brings parent education opportunities to the rural areas served by the Parent Support Program. The individual fund offers eligible families financial support to attend various parent education programs in the region, including assistance with registration, travel and childcare costs.

Toy Lending Library

Periodically we have a travelling toy library at the Kaslo Family Centre. Children may pick a toy to borrow for a month.

Parenting Library

The Kaslo Family Centre has an excellent selection of books for parents.

For more information on any of these programs, please call or stop by our office.

We also offer other programs for Families & Parents.
