Parenting in a Digital World.

A free workshop with Sean Larsen, child & youth mental health clinician.   Tuesday, October 17,  9:30-11:30 at the Kaslo Family Centre.  Registration is required.

  • Learn about current findings on children and digital media.
  • Consider the ways children use digital media and the risks involved. 
  • Talk about sleep, sexuality, aggression, mental health and development as they relate to ‘screen time’. 
  • Learn strategies for parenting and managing emotions around media use. 
  • Childcare provided.

Understanding Addiction: Family & Friends Workshop

This has been cancelled due to low enrolment.  It will be rescheduled to a later date probably on two evenings.  Please still contact Jenny to let her know if you are interested.

This workshop is for Friends and Family of those with Substance Use Issues. The workshop is based on the SMART Recovery model.

It covers the following topics:

Strong Start - Tuesday September 19th

We will be having pizza in the park for Strong Start Parent and Child Time on Tuesday September 19th, 2017.

 

  • Where: Vimy Park playground
  • When: 4:30 - 6:30pm
  • Who: Any family who has at least one child who is 5 years old or younger
  • What: Join us for playing and pizza.

Please come dressed for being outside regardless of the weather!

*Please bring your own water bottles and plates for dinner*

Mother Goose program at Kaslo Family Centre

A free program for dads or moms with children up to 2 ½ years.  Learn songs, stories and rhymes!  Have fun, meet other parents and strengthen your bond with your baby!  Fridays for 8 weeks, starting October 6th.  10-11:30.  Snacks and childcare (for older siblings) provided.  Registration required: Contact Barb Cyr: 250-353-7691 ext. 209 or barbcyr@nklcss.org .  Offered by North Kootenay Lake Community Services Society and supported by JVH school.

Youth Art and Culture Program: Mentoring, Nature Connection and Arts Empowerment for 10-12 year olds

The Youth Art and Culture program is offering a Mentoring, Nature Connection and Arts Empowerment Program for 10-12 year olds!

Join Gabriel Keczan, Erin Carr and Sarah Evans for art-making, fire-tending, games, hiking, storytelling, sit-spots, bird language, wandering and core routines of nature connection.

Saturdays: September 30th, October 7th, 14th, 21st, 28th & November 4th from 12:30–3:30pm.

Meet at St. Andrew’s Heritage Hall and bring outdoor clothing, a pocketknife (optional), backpack and water.
