Every Child Can Be a Good Sleeper: A free workshop for parents of young children

Tuesday November 21st 9:30-11:30 with Sierra Dante at the Kaslo Family Centre (in JVH school).  

This session will look at common child sleep issues and address questions like…

  • What is good sleep? 
  • How much sleep is needed? 
  • Why sleep is important?  
  • How do babies and kids learn to sleep?   

Come and get tips to improve sleep in your home.  Childcare provided. 

Dental Hygienist to visit Meadow Creek Family Centre Nov 9th

Mara Sand will be visiting us in Meadow Creek at Strong Start Parent and Child Time on Thursday, November 9th. 

Mara is a community dental hygienist with Interior Health.  Join us on this day and sign up (upon arrival) for a one on one consultation with Mara in our private “small group room”.  Mara can look inside your child’s mouth and tell you how things look.  Mara is also able to apply a fluoride varnish treatment to children's teeth as needed and if desired by parents. 

Shinny & Pizza Night November 17th

All youth 12 to 18 years of age are invited to KULYN's Shinny & Pizza night on November 17th at the Kaslo Arena.  7 pm to 10 pm.

Bring your helmet, stick, and skates.

Registration Fee $5.

Navigating Food with Children

A free presentation Tuesday, November 28, 9:30-11:30 at the North Lake Family Centre for parents of young children with Erika Bauer, certified eating psychology coach.  

  • Learn about supporting healthy eating habits from a young age. 
  • How diverse is your child’s diet? 
  • What are the best snack foods? 
  • What’s the deal with Breakfast? 
  • Why is my child ALWAYS hungry? 
  • What does sugar actually do?

CCRR Toy Lending Library visit!

Heather from Childcare Resource and Referral program will be visiting Kaslo Strong Start on Wednesday, October 18th. 

For a $40 annual membership, families can borrow from a wide range of toys and resources including puzzles, infant toys, games, books, gross motor equipment (slides etc.). 

Please bring cheques or exact change.  Financial assistance is also available to cover the cost of the membership for eligible families.  Heather can also help people with applications and questions about childcare subsidy as well as community resources.
