Family Centres holiday closures

Kaslo Family Centre:

  • The evening Strong Start Parent and Child Time program in Kaslo will be closed on Tuesday, December 19th due to a school closure. 
  • Last Strong Start Parent & Child Time in Kaslo before holiday closure is Wednesday December 20th from 8:45 to 11:45.
  • The Kaslo Family Centre holiday party will be held on Wednesday, December 20th from 8:45-11:45 am. Join us for festive crafts, songs and a story! Please bring a snack to share if you are able to, along with an ingredients list. 

Making a Will: a FREE workshop for parents with Tom Humphries

Tuesday, January 16th from 9:30-11:30 at the Kaslo Family Centre. Registration is required.

Selkirk College instructor visiting Kaslo Family Centre

Jenn Lucke will be visiting the Kaslo Family Centre on Wednesday, December 6th during the Strong Start program. She is the Adult Upgrading Instructor at the Selkirk College in Kaslo.  Information about Adult Upgrading opportunities in Kaslo will be available, including pamphlets about upgrading, as well as information about other Selkirk programs.

In addition, there will be the opportunity to fill in a short survey looking to see if there are any courses that Jenn can help with and the potential to have a class with parents and their children at the Family Centre location.

Kaslo Family Centre closures

Strong Start Parent and Child Time (SSPACT) will be closed on Monday, November 13th for the Remembrance Day statutory holiday.

On Wednesday, November 15th SSPACT will close at 11:00 am for a staff training event.

Heather from Child Care Resource and Referral will be visiting us on Wednesday, November 15th from 9:00 - 11:00 am. Come meet Heather to borrow toys or resources, or to discuss your childcare needs.

Every Child Can Be a Good Sleeper: A free workshop for parents of young children

Tuesday November 21st 9:30-11:30 with Sierra Dante at the Kaslo Family Centre (in JVH school).  

This session will look at common child sleep issues and address questions like…

  • What is good sleep? 
  • How much sleep is needed? 
  • Why sleep is important?  
  • How do babies and kids learn to sleep?   

Come and get tips to improve sleep in your home.  Childcare provided. 

Dental Hygienist to visit Meadow Creek Family Centre Nov 9th

Mara Sand will be visiting us in Meadow Creek at Strong Start Parent and Child Time on Thursday, November 9th. 

Mara is a community dental hygienist with Interior Health.  Join us on this day and sign up (upon arrival) for a one on one consultation with Mara in our private “small group room”.  Mara can look inside your child’s mouth and tell you how things look.  Mara is also able to apply a fluoride varnish treatment to children's teeth as needed and if desired by parents.
