Kaslo Early Childhood Coalition (KECC), in partnership with North Kootenay Lake Community Services Society (NKLCSS), answered the call from the Early Childhood Educators of B.C. (ECEBC) for leadership initiative seeking communities of innovation in 2010. The project proposal submitted by the KECC for a $10,000.00 grant was accepted. This money will fund the project and additional support will be provided for two local ECE professionals to attend three Leadership Institutes.
The summary description of the project reads:
The ECEBC proposal for Kaslo and surrounding rural communities will enact a project to support the leadership capacity of Early Childhood Educators to raise public awareness about ECE and early childhood supports through speakers, demonstration and participation activities and information at community events and services.
The KECC members will consult to establish priorities and draft a budget to take to the first leadership institute. Sarah Evans, Early Years Coordinator at NKLCSS, and Anne Heard, KECC Coordinator, will represent the project at the Leadership Institutes in Vancouver three times during the year of the project. The Kaslo Early Childhood Coalition is excited to be able to host early childhood education awareness in our community with thanks to ECEBC for the opportunities this project represents.
